PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the period for filing nominating petitions for the office of member of the Board of Education has been extended. On April 24, 2026, the district received a withdrawal of a candidate’s nominating petition. Pursuant to New York Education Law § 2018, when a candidate withdraws a duly filed nominating petition within the time period specified by law, the time for filing nominating petitions for that office is extended.
Accordingly, nominating petitions for the office of member of the Board of Education may now be filed with the District Clerk until 5 p.m. on Friday, May 8, 2026.
Petitions are available in the District Office located at the Mountain View Campus, 7530 Court Street Elizabethtown, New York, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Those who would like to be considered as a candidate for one of the terms must submit a Petition for Nomination to the District Clerk signed by at least 25 qualified voters of the BVCS district.
There are two vacancies opening up on the Board of Education, both with three-year terms (July 1, 2026- June 30, 2029). The seats are currently held by Paul Fenton and Sarah Kullman.
The Board of Education Annual Meeting, Board Member Election and Budget Vote will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at the Mountain View Campus 7530 Court Street, Elizabethtown, New York.
